Project Space

With the majority of South African schools being dysfunctional, we have come to realise that school children are losing their self-esteem. In an environment where almost half are parentless, there is a lack of role models and guidance. This makes it hard for the children to stay positive about their futures. They do not believe in themselves, and their ability to create a better future. Because of this, one of our ambitions as an organisation is to inspire children to reach for the stars and dream bigger than ever before. We want them to feel like they can do great things, no matter where they come from.

So, to achieve this, we looked to the stars. We wanted them to hear first hand from a big dreamer who has made his dream come true - Russian Cosmonaut, Gennady Padalka.

We got him to record a radio commercial in space. This was beamed down from our cosmonaut in the International Space Station, through Radio 702, to the desks of the children at Forte High School in Soweto. Listeners tuned in and witnessed what OSAAT is trying to achieve.
