Riding the long road for education

Posted: August 12, 2014

This year Joe Public and friends have created a charity bond consisting of 40 riders that will be cycling the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge to create awareness for One School at a Time.

We feel that it is not only important to keep our children stimulated in the classrooms, but also give them the opportunity to be stimulated after school through sport. Sport gives children the chance to bond with each other on a more social platform as well as giving them something to focus on in order to keep them off the streets and out of trouble.

So for the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge project we want to encourage people to donate sports equipment so that the children from our schools can all participate in sport. Very few of them have the appropriate clothes, shoes and equipment to play, so old or new shoes and clothes will be well received. The sports played at the schools are basketball, netball, soccer and athletics, so any equipment, such as balls and running clothes are needed.

All donations can be dropped off at the Joe Public office in Fourways, or special pick-ups can be arranged. (Gauteng only).
